How to Use a Period Belt: Charging, Heat Levels & Where to Wear It
Share
A period belt is a slim heating pad on a soft strap that you wear around your waist. It gives steady warmth while you sit, study or rest at home. If you are searching "period belt kaise use kare", this guide covers charging, heat levels, where to wear it and safe use. We use the HaloCalm belt as the example.
What is a period belt?
A period belt, also called a period heating belt, has three parts: a heating pad, a built-in rechargeable battery and an adjustable strap. There are no wires while you wear it. The HaloCalm period heating belt has 3 heat levels, 4 vibration modes, an LED display and a 3.7 V built-in battery. The pad weighs about 280 g, so it feels light around the waist.
Before first use: charge it fully
- Take the belt and the USB cable out of the box. There is no wall plug in the box, so use a regular USB phone adapter or a laptop USB port.
- Connect the cable to the belt and plug it in.
- Charge it fully before you use it for the first time. The leaflet in the box gives the exact charging time for your belt.
- Unplug the cable before you wear it. Never wear the belt while it is charging.
Charge it on a hard, dry surface like a table, not on a bed, sofa or pillow. Do not leave it charging when nobody is around.
How to wear it, step by step
- Wear a thin layer of clothing first, like a vest, T-shirt or kurta. The pad must not touch bare skin.
- Place the pad where you want warmth (see below) and wrap the elastic strap around your waist. Keep it snug, not tight.
- Switch it on with the controls on the belt. The LED display shows the setting you choose.
- Start on the lowest heat level. Wait a few minutes before you go higher.
- Add a vibration mode if you like.
- When you are done, switch it off and then take it off.
Heat levels: which one to pick?
The HaloCalm belt has 3 heat levels. As per the supplier's specification, they are about 45 °C, 55 °C and 65 °C.
- Lowest level (about 45 °C): gentle warmth. Always start here.
- Middle level (about 55 °C): cosy, noticeable warmth for cold evenings.
- Highest level (about 65 °C): the warmest setting. Use it only for a short while, over clothing, and step down once you feel warm enough.
The 4 vibration modes work separately from the heat. Pick the one that feels most relaxing, or use heat on its own.
Where to wear a period belt
- Lower tummy: the most common spot. Place the pad just below your navel, over your clothes.
- Lower back: turn the belt around so the pad sits on your lower back.
- Sides of the waist: slide the pad to one side for a change of spot.
As it is cordless, you can move around the house while wearing it. Just do not sleep with it on.
Safety tips (please read)
- Always wear it over clothing, never on bare skin.
- Start on the lowest heat level and go higher only if you need to.
- Do not wear it while sleeping, and never while it is charging.
- Move it to a new spot every 15–20 minutes so one area does not get too warm.
- Stop at once if your skin turns red or feels too hot.
- Do not use it on broken skin or on skin with reduced feeling (numbness). Do not use it on children.
- If you are pregnant, have a health condition or use an implanted device such as a pacemaker, ask a doctor first.
- Keep it dry. Do not put it in water, and do not use it with wet hands or wet clothes.
- Stop if the belt or cable looks damaged.
To clean it, switch it off, unplug it and wipe the pad with a dry cloth. Store it in its box in a cool, dry place.
Period belt or hot water bag?
A hot water bag cools down and must be held in place. A belt keeps steady warmth and stays put. For a full comparison, read hot water bag vs cordless heating belt, or browse our Heating & Massage collection.
